The dynamics of heavy-ion reactions at Fermi energies is dominated by adissipative mechanism modified by the concurrent emission of non-statisticalnucleons, light particles, and nuclear clusters. Experimental observables areavailable to monitor the relaxation processes driving the evolution of aninteracting nuclear system towards equilibrium. Isospin degrees of freedomprovide interesting new access to fundamental information on the reactionmechanism and the effective in-medium nucleonic interactions.
